Ronald Dean (Bam Bam) Portman passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Denison, Texas at the age of 60 years and 10 days. He was born on Saturday, July 28, 1951 in Durant, Oklahoma to Harold Dean and Betty Jean (Bishop) Portman.

Ronnie is survived by his father, Harold Dean Portman of Durant, Oklahoma; sons, Ronnie (Budd) Portman, Jr. and wife Angela of Kingston, Oklahoma, Donnie Portman and wife Autumn of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Laci McKinney of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Linda Bertrand and husband Tommy of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Megan Portman of Mead, Oklahoma, Andrew Hill of Durant, Oklahoma, Tiffany Portman of Mead, Oklahoma, Nikki Smith of Durant, Oklahoma, Austin Hill of Durant, Oklahoma, Trevor McKinney of Durant, Oklahoma, Preston Portman of Durant, Oklahoma, Christopher Ross of Lewisville, Texas, and Chelsie Cloer of Valley View, Texas; nephew, Kevin Mouton of Austin, Texas; niece, Candice Mouton of Sulphur, Lousiana; great niece, Brea Mouton of Sulphur, Lousiana; great nephew, Bryler LeBrun of Sulphur, Lousiana; and many other friends and relatives.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma. Ronnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing his drums. He would spend as much time as he could on his four wheeler while working on his property. His children say that once he learned to text message he never called them again. Ronnie loved his family and making people laugh with his sense of humor. Ronnie is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Portman (August 5, 2000).

Family Hour will be 6-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Mr. Skip Robinson and Tommy Bertrand officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Portman, Eddie Portman, Chris Pardue, Jamie Dixon, Troy Wagoner, and Tommy Bertrand. Honorary pallbearers will be, Curtis Evans and Jimmy Portman.
