Our featured graduate is Garland Neal Taylor, graduate of the class of 1958, and valued alumni member.

Neal began his Fine Arts career as a college class ring designer working with John Roberts Company in Norman, Oklahoma. Taylor has been associated with the U.S. Mint as one of nine master designers.

He has developed a realistic style of painting following Western and historical themes and his paintings and sculpture have been purchased and displayed in museums, galleries, banks, and institutions in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. His artwork has received several “best of show” and blue ribbons at juried shows.

Taylor’s bronze sculpture, “The Spirit of 89” was presented to President Ronald Reagan and is on display at the Reagan Library. He has another casting on display at Will Rogers airport in Oklahoma City and his design for the Oklahoma bicentennial medallion was chosen by the Franklin Mint to name a few of his honors.

Thanks Neal for honoring Durant High School with your accomplishments and talents as an alumni member.
